WITH HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS AT HASLINGDEN PRIMARY SCHOOL
New friendships are forged by the twinning of both schools in 2008 and as a mark of the bonding between them the new Amukeni School signs shows a child from each school greeting each other.
A special notice board in class 3a has been dedicated to their Friends at Haslingden
During 2008 the children of class 4 along with their teacher, Ms. Clarke were learning all about the differences in culture and education. The children swapped letters about themselves and their schools after seeing pictures and a film.
All the children worked hard to raise funds to help Amukeni by organising a special football fund raising day so that they could by a computer for the children to improve their reading and writing skills and also for general administrative school work.
Not satisfied with raising the money the children also donated their football shirts which Amukeni now use for the school football teams to use during matches.

On a recent family holiday to Kenya, Head Mistress, Mrs. Julie Burnside had the pleasure of meeting Pauline and the children. At a party for all her family the children sang and recited poetry and afterwards everyone chatted about what can be done for the school in the future.
An application has been completed for the teachers of both schools to do an educational
swap for two weeks, which I am sure will be of a tremendous value to everyone -

During my visit in
February 2010
the children of Amukeni
were thrilled to accept a picture created by the pupils of
Haslingden Primary School depicting their school
and the area around it
